Minnesota requires all of its drivers to carry liability, uninsured motorist (UM) and personal injury protection (PIP) coverage. It is estimated that as of 2007, as many as 10% of Minnesota drivers were still uninsured. Minnesota is a "No Fault" state, and PIP covers you for up to $20,000 in medical expenses and $20,000 of non-medical expenses regardless of who causes the accident.
