West Virginia requires all of its drivers to carry liability and uninsured motorist (UM) coverage. According to a study by the Insurance Research Council, as many as 10% of West Virginia drivers were still uninsured as of 2007. Major insurance companies have offices in Charleston, Huntington, Beckley, and Wheeling.
